KPITB in collaboration with world bank and MDTF has taken a step to accelerate the growth of startups by establishing a seed fund primarily targeting the early-stage startup businesses. KP Seed Fund is executed by epiphany to disperse equity-free grants in KP-based businesses looking for grants to enhance, strengthen and expand their startups.

The objective of this project is to promote the inclusion of young entrepreneurs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the digital economy and accelerating growth of early-age start-ups through a seed fund.

ONE WINDOW FACILITATION PLATFORM

Under this project, KPIT Board established one window facilitation platform to improve the facilitation of investors, businesses, tech start-ups and SMEs within the province. Through this portal, any bottlenecks or delays caused by the current manual procedures of the department will be alleviated, which may involve approvals, RACI (responsibilities of actors), documentation, scheduling, filing, as well as secondary/tertiary manual approval procedures. The portal significantly reduces the time required for business registration within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, increases transparency to build the trust of prospective investors, and contributes to improving the ease of doing business index ranking in Pakistan.

E-Kasib is an online service outsourcing platform in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that helps employers and entrepreneurs in both the Public and Private sector find the best talent for their projects. One of its major highlights is its robust search engine that helps tech start-ups, individual freelancers and experts find the gigs they are interested in, while employers can scour the site for qualified and skilled workers. In addition, the platform protects the private and financial data of employers and gives them the confidence to make payments securely. It also offers a seamless private chat channel where employers and workers can communicate securely about the project details.

GANDHARA DIGITAL COMPLEX

The KPITB has taken the initiative to establish Gandhara Digital Complexes in Peshawar & Swat. The Gandhara Digital Complexes will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities at Peshawar & Swat which will have the provision to house a large Expo Centre/Auditorium, Government Offices, Co-working Spaces, Incubation facilities, IT Park, national & international ICT and telecommunication companies.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board has commenced a project “Establishment of Pakistan Digital City at Haripur” which is initially planned over an area of 86K-9M of land at Batrasi near Khanpur Interchange, Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will be scaled up in future. The Pakistan Digital City will host the ICT companies including some of the biggest names in the ICT industry. The aim of establishing the Digital City is to facilitate IT industry, promote business of the ICT and software companies, encourage innovations and entrepreneurship and to capitalize on the immense job creation potential of ICTs.

Under the Digital Economy pillar, KPITB is adopting digitization to ensure better and improved finance management and introducing alternative channels for digital payments. To serve this purpose, KPITB has launched Digital Payment Gateway system which is an integrated payment gateway interface service; that allows end users to accept digital payments from all service providers in Pakistan without going into contract with every individual digital payment service provider. It is an unswerving digital payment platform that is convenient, acceptable and reliable amongst government departments, businesses and citizens. It provides a one-stop platform for the citizens wherein information, procedures and requirements pertaining to various government services is available in a centralized location where citizens can easily pay service charges for the selected services through a single platform.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board launched the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Ready Space project with assistance of MDTF in 2019 to provide jobs to the youth of the province in various digital fields. BPO’s are ready spaces workaround with fully equipped facilities that are built to facilitate the BPO industry. These spaces have all the required IT infrastructure, furniture, and allied amenities that are needed to set up a BPO company. The workaround is the first-ever government-owned BPO facility established in Peshawar which has generated more than 500 employment opportunities for the IT workforce in the province.
