The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information & Technology Board (KPITB), in partnership with DEMO, DataPoint, and Tech Valley, is executing the “Employable Digital Skills for the Youth of Newly Merged Areas” project. This initiative falls under the KP Youth Employment Program (KPYEP) and targets training 840 youth across the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in employable digital skills, integrating them into the digital economy.

Objectives

The primary objective is to empower the youth from merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with employable digital skills. This endeavor aims to enable them to overcome unemployment challenges and actively participate in the burgeoning digital economy.

Benefits/Outcomes

The program has yielded significant outcomes. An initial employment assessment revealed that 30% of the respondents are now employed, earning an average monthly income of PKR 10,000, contributing to a total annual income of PKR 22 million.

A hallmark of this program's success is that a total of 870 youth from merged districts have successfully completed their training in various digital skills, surpassing the initial target. This achievement not only reflects the effective implementation of the training program but also the eagerness and capability of the youth in these regions to adapt to digital skill sets.
