Happenings at KPITB

About 3 months ago, KPITB launched its flagship incubation facility - Durshal Hub in Peshawar. Durshal Hub is unique in the sense that apart from our startups, it houses Government Innovation Lab (GIL) where selected fellows work for 6 months as part of the KP Government Innovation Fellowship Program.

The KP Government Innovation Fellowship Program, jointly run by KPITB, Code for Pakistan and the World Bank, aims to bring together talented researchers, designers, and developers to build solutions, increase citizen engagement, improve government service delivery and show the government how to innovate in public services.

Now about 3 months and hundreds of working hours later, a “Midway Demo Day” was arranged at Durshal Hub Peshawar to demonstrate the solutions and platforms they have developed for various government departments.

And our journey continues!

While Durshal is already Pakistan's largest network of incubators, we believe there still is demand and untapped talent that is waiting for its opportunity. After our successful launch in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat and planned collaboration with IMSciences in Peshawar and UST Bannu in Bannu, our next stop is Abbottabad.

We are pleased to announce Durshal Abbottabad - a joint venture of KPITB and Tech Valley Abbottabad. KPITB has entrusted Tech Valley with running the program.

Being largest network of incubation centers, Durshal is spreading across KP. Our next destination is Bannu. In this regard, we have successfully partnered with University of Science and Technology Bannu. Durshal Bannu is another community innovation lab which is funded by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board - KPITB and will be executed by UST Bannu.

Today witnessed an era of safe commute for women of KP, as KPITB launched The Safe Women app.

This mobile app ensures safety of women by connecting them to their friends, family, local security and rescue authorities during their daily commute via the first women only Pink Bus, which is being implemented in Abbottabad and Mardan through financial support from the Japanese Government and technical support from UN Women and UNOPS.

Dr. Shahbaz Khan(MD KPITB) along with his team, Barkan Saeed (Chairman PASHA), Syed Ahmad (Former Chairman PASHA) and representatives from KP IT Park Companies discussed the need to focus on Digital Economy, Digital Governance, Digital Access and Digital Skills for a prosperous and developed Pakistan.

After our successful launch in Mardan and Swat, today we formally opened our doors at Durshal Innovation Lab, Peshawar. Present on the occasion was the Senior Minister for Health Information Technology, Mr. Shahram Khan Tarakai along with other dignitaries. Durshal Innovation Lab at Peshawar will serve dual purposes as it will be home to both KPITB's Civic Innovation Fellowship program and Durshal Startup Incubation Program.

After successful execution of Early Age Programming phase1, phase 2 has been successfully started in 300 Government schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Digital digitalization of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board has been deducted to digitalize various provinces of the province.

It is also a part of the same strategy, in which all the police departments of the province have to digitize and make the performance better.
